On the Road Again – with Greyhound

For those of you that are praying for us, here is an update. I am sheduled to start classes tomorrow (April 22, 2010) in Dallas for two days. I am scheduled to leave for Atlanta for two weeks on Saturday evening. It looks like this is a go. God is good – in preparation for being on the road – my cell phone quit. This forced me to look at a new phone. Verizon was offering a Palm Pre for free. The phone also includes the ability to create a mobile hotspot, and I have been told that under the current promotion, the Mobile Hot Spot will be free going forward. For those of you that don't have any idea what I am talking about – if you go to a McDonalds with a laptop, you can get to the Internet using their "WIFI" service. A mobile hotspot is sort of like a mobile WIFI connection meaning that as long as I have cell phone service, wherever I am I can connect to the Internet using the cell phone. The phone also comes with GPS (Satellite positioning) which could come in handy in my new endeavor.

I rescued three domains yesterday and one today – I also spoke with Pastor Greg Odell and his wife regarding their desire to put a course online to train Chaplains. I registered a domain for them last year – but due to health problems (Pastor Odell has lost his eye sight over the last year) he has not been able to develop it. It was coming up for renewal, and I needed to know if they wanted to keep it (they do).

The mail problems that were taking down the websites persisted even after I moved all the email off the sites. I changed the email program on the server (from Postfix to Qmail) and the problems are gone. The Lord, in his infinite wisdom had me move all our email off the web portal server, which has significantly reduced our SPAM, and all in all, has been a worthwhile investment of time.

Lastly – I may have to delay the May Newsletter until I get back from Atlanta – so it could be coming out in the second or third week of May.
