Hail Damage

After the hail damage to the vinyl siding on Thursday night, we were advised to contact a contract that does business with our insurance company before we filed a claim. The contractor came out this morning, and to my amazement, advised me that in addition to the damage to the siding, the window frames, the screens and the wind turbines, we need a new roof. A new roof?

We had the roof replaced in April of 2014! Not even two years old. It was an upgraded roof with a fifty year limited warranty. Shouldn’t have to worry about a roof for a long time right? Wrong.

I went up the ladder and the contractor showed me where the hail stones broke the shingles. Amazing. The warranty does not cover “acts of God” like hurricanes tornados and of course hail damage. The roof would not leak (at least not for a while) but we would not be able to sell the house according to the contractor if we wanted to. I am more concerned about water damage from the holes in the vinyl siding, and there is no point in paying my deductible to replace the siding without simply replacing the whole roof. What a pain! Any way – we filed a claim with the insurance company. Guess we can see what else was damaged in the hail storm and get it all fixed.

Seems stupid to get another new roof in Texas when we can get another hail storm or tornado next week…

Oh, and because we are Bible believing Christians, we seem to be the only people in Texas that believe we have to follow the law and actually pay the insurance deductibles even though the contractors are willing to absorb the deductible. It is illegal to NOT pay the deductible (several thousand dollars). I am not complaining; it is irritating when we have to argue with the contractors to actually let us pay the deductible! The deductible is peanuts compared the to price the Lord payed for our salvation! Have  Blessed Easter – HE IS RISEN!

Matthew 28:1-10 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
