Maureen and I had the pleasure of attending New Beginning Baptist Church in Edgewood Texas this morning. Edgewood Texas is located approximately 50 miles east of Dallas Texas in Van Zandt County. Edgewood has a population under 1500.
We met Pastor Bryan Easley at the 2009 East Texas Camp Meeting, and New Beginning Baptist Church in Edgewood Texas was one of the first websites we had the pleasure (and blessing) of setting up. You can see their website at nbbcedgewood.com.
I had exchanged email with their webmaster over the last several weeks because it seemed she might have been having some problems updating the website.
New Beginning Baptist Church was one of the churches I had a burden to re-establish contact with since we had gone back into full time service.
In talking to their webmaster I found out the live in a very rural area and have metered satellite internet and she was having problems running out of bandwidth, so she had issues trying to figure out how to accomplish some of the things she wanted to try, not to mention issues with uploading sermons and pictures which can also be bandwidth hogs.
To make matters worse she said they had some bad delays on their home phone, and no cell phone service at their house. When she told me their phone was on a “Magic Jack” that explained 90% of their problems (although she apparently didn’t know it). “Magic Jack” uses the internet for connectivity, so that uses up their bandwidth (apparently someone living in her household spends a lot of time on the phone). Also – because they use satellite for the internet that explains the huge delay when they talk on the phone.
I suggested she try using a public library to do her internet work, something another one of my webmasters does. They usually have plenty of bandwidth and they are free. She thought that was a great idea and was going to give that a try.
Pastor Easley also invited us to participate in their “Great Commission Camp Meeting” at New Beginning Baptist Church in September. This is another blessing. Meetings are starting to fall into place, we now have meetings set up for July, August and September, but our schedule is not no full that I cannot continue to set up new ministries and we cannot handle Bible lessons. God is so good!
