We were looking for a church to attend in the morning (that has an unofficial website). I have four sites in Dallas. Three of the four church phone numbers I have are disconnected. I decided we should just do a drive by and see what was up. With the following results:
- The first church was there, all locked up, no one home. As I said the phone is disconnected. I dropped a note in the mail slot with our December Newsletter.
- We never could find the second church! The phone is disconnected.
- The third church was there, in good condition. The phone number is disconnected. There was a car in front of the church. There were also two dogs, so I opted not to try and get to the front door.
- The last church had a construction sign on it. No church name, no one answers the phone when it rings.
South Dallas is in shambles. many neighborhoods houses are boarded up. The amount of houses that appear to have been lost or abandoned is staggering. It would be no wonder that churches have folded. Maureen and I were saddened by what we saw.
I worked with Pastor Wilkerson today to try and get the web page for Maranatha Baptist Church in Rantoul online (templates). We worked on getting things set up and his web site is progressing nicely.
