Last night Lavon Drive Baptist Church held a missions banquet and missionary Christmas celebration for our visiting missionaries. We had the pleasure of attending the GIC banquet with Pastor Duane and Lori Myers of Calvary Baptist Church in Mesquite Texas. Calvary Baptist Church is one of the first churches we put online (cbcmesquite.com). They have been supporting our ministry for quite a few years now.
Every year during the Global Impact Celebration (GIC) Lavon Drive Baptist Church attempts to meet specific needs that the visiting missionaries have. Some of the special gifts included new luggage, a digital camera, and some laptop computers.
Church members also purchase and present “Christmas” gifts to the missionary families and their children. None of the missionaries know anything about this, and are wondering what is going on when they reach the banquet location and find it decorated for Christmas at the end of February. Everyone had a wonderful time, and most of the missionaries where overwhelmed by the love that Lavon Drive Baptist Church showed them.
