Yesterday (02/08/09) Maureen and I had the pleasure of attending Valley View Baptist Church in Mesquite Texas. Valley View Baptist Church is a little country church just outside of Balch Springs on Pioneer Road. We talked with Pastor Irby Barber, and when he heard I attended Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland Texas, he said he knew Pastor Gary Coleman, and asked if I preached. I do, and Pastor Barber invited me to present the ministry and give a message during the morning service. 2 Timothy 4:2 Tells us to "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." I put together a message and tied it into our ministry. It was good to preach again, since I have not preached in a while.
I surrendered to preach back in 1981 at Harvester Baptist Church. I was licensed out of Harvester, but due to the online ministry demands and a heavy work schedule I did not find much opportunity to preach. It was a blessing that the Lord allowed me (through Valley View Baptist Church and Pastor Barber) to speak. Praise God.
Valley View Baptist Church is a nice little church, running between 20 and 40. If you are looking for a small friendly church with good preaching (we had to go back and pick up something so we ended up back at the church for their evening service and were blessed by Pastor Barber's message). This is a church where individual members can make a difference.
Prayer Partners – We have created a prayer mailing list for our ministry, and have been blessed with many prayer warriors pledging to support us in prayer. I will no longer give all the updates on health, and specific prayer needs here on an ongoing basis. When I post the monthly newsletter here, there will be a summation, but if the Lord has burdened you and you are willing to join our prayer team, either go to our Ministry Prayer Page and sign up, or send me an email and we will get you signed up. Archives are available.
