For years, Sam Ward’s ministry to Croatia has been represented online by his site at godsavecroatia.com.
But as technology evolved, the need grew clear: migrating the site to a more maintainable, flexible platform — WordPress — while preserving the integrity of his content, outreach, and mission statement.
That’s where our team stepped in: working alongside Jeremy Bingham of HomeTeamMissions.com to carefully recreate Sam’s website, migrating all existing content and updating the design to better support his ongoing ministry.
Why Migrate: Challenges with the Old Site
The original site served its purpose well: it shared Sam’s testimony, offered “Are you saved?” materials, published prayer letters and media, and provided contact/support information.
God Save Croatia
Yet several limitations with the old WIX-based version made a rebuild attractive:
- Limited flexibility for future content expansion (media, blog posts, updates).
- Maintenance challenges — especially hosting, plugins, and customizations.
- The need for a stable, long-term platform suitable for mission work and outreach.
- Moving to WordPress gives Sam’s ministry the flexibility to grow — to add features, improve accessibility, and make updates more straightforward.
What We Did: Recreating the Site with WordPress
Working with Jeremy Bingham, we approached the migration carefully and systematically:
- Full content export/import — We captured all pages from the original site: testimony, “Are you saved?”, media/prayer letters, other informational pages.
- Updated theme and layout — Using a clean, responsive WordPress theme (Customizr Pro).
- Preserved contact & support details — Including mailing address, church-address with sending church info, and support options (PayPal, Zelle) exactly as on the original site.
- Improved navigation and user experience — Ensuring menus match the original structure (Home, Testimony, Are you saved?, Media → Prayer Letters, etc.) while making the site easier to maintain and update.
As a result, Sam Ward’s ministry now stands on a more stable, modern foundation — one that’s easier to update, more accessible to supporters, and better suited for future growth and outreach in Croatia and beyond.
The Heart Behind the Work: Sam Ward’s Mission
Sam’s ministry is more than a website — it represents a lifetime commitment to sharing the Gospel in Croatia. According to supporters writing about his work:
Sam came to Christ early, developed a heart for ministry (Sunday school, prison work, street evangelism), then felt called to serve in Croatia.
He began missionary trips around 2006, saw lives changed, and by 2009 fully committed: sold his house, left the comforts of America, and moved to Croatia to serve full-time.
His missionary work involves evangelism, discipleship, church planting — not just preaching but personal relationships: teaching English, building friendships with locals, investing in lives.
Missions With the Consfords
By migrating his web presence to WordPress, we aim to support that mission — making it easier for churches, supporters, and new believers to connect, follow, and support his work.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for the New Site
With the rebuilt WordPress site now live (or soon to go live), the path is open for:
- Regular updates: prayer letters, ministry reports, photos, testimonies.
- Resource expansion: downloadable gospel tracts, Bible-study materials, local-language content.
- Improved outreach: easier contact forms, multilingual support, integration with social media or newsletters.
- Supporter engagement: clear giving/support instructions, updates on needs (e.g. medical, ministry, travel), partnership possibilities.
Working with Jeremy Bingham and the broader support team, we believe this rebuilt site will help Sam remain focused on what matters — sharing Christ and building His church — while handling the technical side professionally and reliably.
Conclusion
Recreating Sam Ward’s website for Croatia missions on WordPress was more than a technical project — it’s a labor of love and service. In migrating his content, preserving the ministry’s identity, and giving it a long-term, stable platform, we’ve helped provide a strong digital foundation for gospel outreach in Croatia.
I’m grateful to Jeremy Bingham for asking us to partner in this effort, and honored to support Sam Ward’s calling in any way I can. May this site serve as a bridge — connecting hearts in Texas to souls in Croatia, for the glory of God.
