Volume 28 Issue 1 (First Quarter 2015) – Missionaries to Cyberspace Newsletter

"When you see the DOG go to GOD in prayer for the Hoffman Family – missionaries to Cyberspace."
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

  • The Latest News: As February hit, there is nothing new in the secular job situation, I will be continuing on at Greyhound. The next possible milestone will come in November, please keep us in prayer. Maureen is still recovering from her hand surgery, and Bob will be going in for sinus surgery on February 10. Please continue to keep us in prayer!
  • In preparation for returning to full time service, the board of directors has recommended we set up a "Vision Fund." Right now all contributions received go into budget to support the cost of the ministry and all personal expenses are paid for through Bob's secular work. A designated gift to the Vision fund will be available for use in the personal financial needs of Bob and Maureen Hoffman.
Church Website Ministry:.

  • The Independent Baptist Database (baptist-ministries.org) crashed the database server on the shared hosting provider we were using causing the hosting provder to lock us out of the database and causing the website a service interuption for 5 days. This has resulted in us going back to a VPS (Virtual Private Server) and moving the three largest and potentially disruptive database sites off the shared hosting solution. I had problems in the past with the VPS due to my lack of expertise in Linux. The VPS has been up for three days now and so far in very stable. I have cleaned up the databases and pray the system will continue relatively problem free. The other two Websites are familynet-international.org (a Family oriented resource with heavy emphasis on homeschooling) and baptistbarter.com ( a website brought about by the pastor of our sending church looking for a place to sell or give away some old music and hymn books they no longer use. I still am unsure of the future or direction of this website, which includes links on barter and a host of classified ads from around the world). I spent most of the week of my vacation working on this.
Bible Correspondence Courses:  We want to thank Katherine Feguer, John & Lydia Henrici, J.L. & Florence Smith for helping on the Bible Correspondence courses over the last quarter.

  • Annual Stats 2014:  We sent out 2708 lessons and issued 105 certificates with 5 salvation decisions in 2014. We had students in Cameroon, Canada, India, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the USA.

Here are some comments we received from people that are taking the correspondence courses:

  • From a student in VA… This sure was a wonderful lesson. God bless each of you for these lessons. This has been a real blessing in my Chaplain work. God bless.
  • From a student in North Carolina… Just a little note to say “thank you” for the past years. I pray that this year “2015” will bring, health, wealth & prosperity to the FamilyNet. Pray for my health & faith in the Lord and I’ll do the same for this ministry. Love & Peace, God’s Blessings
  • From a student in Canada… This Bible study is awesome.
  • From a 24 year old in GA… Mrs. Hoffman, I would like to wish you and my whole FamilyNet International family a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! It has been a great pleasure and a great life changing experience to be a part of the studies and your letters have become one of the most important parts of my life and I really look forward to receiving them both for as long as possible. This is much needed and an enjoyful first step of change for me. May you all be blessed and have a new year full of wealth and health.
  • From a student in VA… This sure was a great lesson that Christ is victorious over Satan. Praise the Lord we have him to fight satan for us. Praise the Lord and Amen.

Tract Ministry: We have "given out" over 72,000 Bible Tracts online.
Social Networking Outreach: I get new requests on my evangelistic Facebook account regularly. I now have 2575 "friends" in my evangelistic Facebook account. This is a valuable tool to reach the unsaved masses.
Support:  We are currently at 67% of support for our ministry expenses. 100% of money donated to us goes to support the ministry – we use NO money for personal expenses.

Prayer Needs: The Lord's will regarding secular work and health benefits. Help in raising support for the ministry. Please keep us in prayer for our personal financial needs in addition to the ministry's financial needs. Would you consider praying for us when special needs arise? If so, please subscribe to our prayer warrior's mailing list. : http://eepurl.com/SYbI9.  I would like to be back in the full time ministry by November of 2015. Please pray for us to be able to obtain a self propelled RV by that time, as well as the Lord's will on going full time.

Specific Financial Needs:  Our costs for the year for servers are:

  • New VPS = $360
  • Generic shared servers = $608
  • WordPress Security Suite = $247
